Cantonese Grammar: Form, Meaning and Function

Call for papers
We are pleased to announce that the Twentieth Workshop on Cantonese (WOC-20) will be held via
ZOOM on Saturday, June 6, 2020 (GMT 01:00 – 10:00; HKT 09:00 – 18:00). The workshop is
jointly organized by the Linguistic Society of Hong Kong and the Department of English Language and
Literature of the Hong Kong Baptist University.
This year is the 20th anniversary of WOC. To serve the aim of exploring interesting properties of Cantonese grammar, the theme of WOC-20 is set to be “Cantonese Grammar: Form, Meaning and Function”. Topics may relate to particular issues of any aspects of Cantonese Grammar, including but are not limited to the following aspects:
- phonology/tone system
Abstracts are invited for 20-minute talks with 10 minutes for discussion. You can give your presentation
in Cantonese, English or Mandarin. Abstracts may be written in Chinese or English and should be limited
to one A4 page with the name(s) of author(s), affiliation and e-mail address(es). Abstracts in DOC format
should be sent to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
