Call for papers
First Announcement

We are pleased to announce that the Nineteenth Workshop on Cantonese (WOC-19) will be held at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University on Saturday, April 13, 2019. The workshop is jointly organized by the Linguistic Society of Hong Kong and the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The theme of this workshop is “Cantonese Study: An Empirical Approach.” Any data-driven studies on Cantonese linguistics are welcome. Topics may include but are not limited to:

• Morphology, Syntax, Semantics, Pragmatics, Phonetics, Phonology; or
• Sociolinguistics, Corpus Linguistics, Language Acquisition, Psycholinguistics and Neurolinguistics.

Abstracts are invited for 20-minute talks with 10 minutes for discussion. Language used at the Workshop can be Cantonese, English or Mandarin. This workshop is intended to be carried out in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. You may also consider providing handouts of your data for audience to enhance the discussion. Abstracts may be written in Chinese or English and should be limited to one A4 page with the name(s) of author(s), affiliation, e-mail address(es) and presenting language indicated. Please submit your abstracts in DOC format to: woc19.cantonese@gmail.com.
